2003 Demo
Selected shots from work done last year, which included
around 90 post-production visual effects shots for Christopher Coppola's
Bloodhead,
one long and involved CG brain-freeze sequence for Troy Miller's Dumb & Dumberer,
some clean-ups and fixes you would never notice for the ABC-TV series 10-8,
digital effects for the NBC-TV series Kingpin.
For more on how these shots were made, see
a shot-by-shot breakdown.
Kingpin
NBC miniseries - visual FX producer - on set supervision and FX design and production. Mastered on hi-definition under strict quality control. This
was one show that you could count on every frame being closely examined down
to the grain structure. You wouldn't think a crime drama like this would have
any visual effects but there were a few effects sequences and as with any cutting
edge series there was some repair and digital processing.
Bloodhead
Digiflicks and Plaster City Productions, visual effects supervisor and artist.
I was honored to receive a call from Director Christopher
Coppola to work on his feature. Editorial was all on Macs using the
most recent high-def technologies in and out.
Our systems were very compatible,
so I did 85 or 90 shots, ranging from FX design and complex
blue screens, to wire removal, crew removal and repair. Mastered on high-def and film.
10-8 Pilot
Visual effects producer/ on-set supervisor
They had a big
stunt finale with a wire and rig removal. Also
added muzzle flash to emphasize gun shot. Mastered high def.
Dumb & Dumberer
They wanted a brain freeze effect
The
music track is from the newly-reissued beautiful soundtrack
of Ragtime by Randy Newman on Rhino. His stark
piano demo rendition of the theme adds a quiet dignity
to the disparate shots.
